Cost Per Wearing = Cost of Item Divided by Times You Wear It

Cost per wearing = cost of item divided by times you wear it.

People often invest in the wrong clothing items. They spend hundreds of dollars on one special day or night and never wear it again. If they wear dress shirts five days a week, they buy the cheap ones that you can see through and the buttons fall off. This is backwards!

For example 1:

  • Winter Coat: $209.99 divided by times you wore it that year (189) = $1.11 per wearing
  • Sexy Date Shirt : $79.99 divided by times you wore it that year (3) = $26.66 per wearing

Therefore, even though the coat was more expensive, the cost per wearing was much lower which makes it a better purchase for you!

Invest in the pieces that are going to get the most wear. If you are only going to wear it once or a couple of times you should get a screamin’ deal on it.

That is why it is good to look at sales for the special items and have them on hand instead of going shopping specifically for that “special outfit”. Chances are that the perfect outfit won’t be there when you need it and you will pay full price for a mediocre one.
